Embracing My True Self

Photo while dancing ( From the Author's Album)

Hey there, fellow humans! Let's talk about something that brings me unadulterated joy – dancing! I'm not just talking about swaying to the beat; I'm talking about letting loose, feeling the music, and allowing my body to express itself freely.

For me, dancing is like meditation. It's a way to release all my tensions and tap into my inner happiness. When I'm dancing, nothing else matters – not the world around me, not my worries, not even my own self-doubt. All that exists is the music, my body, and the pure, unadulterated joy of movement.

I remember during my hostel days, our freshers' party was the highlight of the semester. While everyone else was excited about meeting new people, eating delicious food, and taking photos, I was counting down the days until I could hit the dance floor. And when the party finally arrived, I was like a kid in a candy store!

But here's the thing – I don't just dance; I dance with abandon. I let the music take over, and my body responds in kind. It's like I'm in a trance, completely absorbed in the rhythm and the beat. And when I'm in that zone, nothing can stop me!

I recall one particular incident during that freshers' party. My friend and I, both avid dancers, decided to take the dance floor by storm. We danced to the iconic song "Dilbar Dilbar," and let me tell you, we brought the house down! Everyone stopped dancing and stared at us in awe, wondering how we could move our bodies with such precision and energy.

Of course, there were some who doubted our sobriety that night, but trust me, we were completely sober – just high on the music and the moment!
Even after we uploaded our dance on WhatsApp status, some of our friends doubted that we must have been drunk on something, but, of course, it wasn't. And, we never do that.

For me, dancing is not just a hobby or a form of entertainment; it's a way of life. It's a way to express myself, to let go of my inhibitions, and to connect with my inner self. And I believe that's something we can all learn from.

In a world that often emphasizes conformity and self-control, dancing allows me to break free from those constraints and be my authentic self. It's a reminder that it's okay to let go, to be vulnerable, and to express ourselves without fear of judgment.

So, the next time you're feeling stressed, anxious, or just plain stuck, I encourage you to put on your favorite song and dance like nobody's watching. Trust me, it's liberating!

“We should consider every day lost on which we have not danced."

And on a scientific note, dancing has been shown to have numerous physical and mental health benefits, including:

1. Reducing stress and anxiety: Dancing has been shown to decrease cortisol levels and improve mood.
2. Improving cognitive function: Dancing requires coordination, memory, and attention, which can help improve cognitive function.
3. Boosting self-esteem: Dancing can help improve self-esteem and body image by allowing individuals to express themselves and feel confident in their movements.
4. Alleviating symptoms of depression: Dancing has been shown to reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety by releasing endorphins and promoting relaxation.
5. Improving physical health: Dancing can help improve cardiovascular health, flexibility, and balance, while also reducing the risk of chronic diseases like heart disease and diabetes.

So, go ahead, put on your dancing shoes, and let the music move you!
