When my best friend told me a Lie
"When Trust is Broken: My Experience with a Friend’s Deception"

I still vividly remember the day my father and I went to enroll in my graduation program. During enrollment time, we saw another two girls who were also there for enrollment. Then,
my father asked them, "Hello! Where are you from, beta?"
The girls answered, "I’m from Noida."
Father asked their name, and they replied, "I’m Aria and she is Sneha."
In this way, the conversation continued. Amazingly, Aria and I had the same subjects. Then, we roamed together in the university.
Now, the days came when my offline classes started. It was our first day, and I had no friends there. I went to class. After completing the class, when I was leaving the department gallery,
I heard a voice from behind - "Hey Nainsy, Stop!"
I looked back and saw it was Aria. Then, we met and went together until our roads diverged for our rooms.
Now, in this way, we used to meet regularly during class time, and our friendship and bonding grew deeper. Days passed, and our hostel allotment letters came. I got selected for the government hostel. Then, I shifted to that hostel. It was the first day of my hostel, and I was inside my room. Meanwhile, I heard a voice asking my roommate, "Who has shifted into your room?"
My roommate replied, "Her name is Nainsy; she is very introverted."
Then, that girl said, "Oh Nainsy! Actually, I know her. Let me see inside your room."
Then, she came into my room and said, "Oh Nainsy, what a coincidence! We met in class, and now we're going to live in the same hostel. Even our rooms are face-to-face. We will enjoy that!"
I simply replied, "Yes."
In this way, we used to go to the department, market, and mess together. Days passed, and our group of five friends formed. We studied, enjoyed ourselves when free from study, and discussed various topics.
Now, the days came when our exams approached. We were all preparing notes. Aria and I made notes almost together, but not entirely. Meanwhile, I got a question that was important for the exam, but I couldn't find the answer. Then, I asked Aria, "Aria, do you have the answer to this question?"
She replied, "No dear, as I said earlier, I'm not getting the answer to that question."
I got hurt so much. You know why? Because she told me a lie; she had the answer to that question. I had seen the answer in her notes when I was in her room during breakfast. But she told me a lie. Even she told me a lie on another occasion, but I don't want to share that.
This experience taught me a valuable lesson about trust and friendship. It's essential to surround yourself with people who are genuine and honest. A true friend will always be transparent and supportive.
As I reflect on this experience, I realize that friendships can be complex and multifaceted. People can hurt us, but it's how we respond that matters. We can choose to hold onto the pain or use it as an opportunity to grow and learn.
I've come to understand that trust is a delicate thing. Once broken, it can be challenging to repair. But it's not impossible. With effort and commitment from both parties, trust can be rebuilt.
So, I ask you, dear readers:
What do you do when someone you trust betrays you? Do you give them another chance, or do you walk away?
What are some essential qualities you look for in a true friend?
